Peter Doocy

Peter Doocy is an American journalist who works for Fox News as a White House correspondent. Steve Doocy, the co-host of Fox & Friends, is his father.


Background

On July 21, 1987, Peter Doocy was born in Columbia, but he was raised in New Jersey. He is the son of the famous Fox News Television reporter, Steve Doocy. He has two sisters, Mary Doocy and Sally Doocy. Doocy received his Bachelor's Degree from Villanova University and previously worked as a student reporter at Fox News' partner site, The Palestra.

Peter Doocy decided to follow in his father's footsteps and began his career as a general assignment reporter for the Fox News Channel in 2009.

Broadcasting Career

Peter Doocy is one of the youngest media reporters for the Fox News Channel. He gained his popularity from an interview he did with John McCain. He questioned John McCain about the drinking habits of Hillary Clinton during a segment on Chris Matthews' Hardball College Tour.

When he started his career as a news assignment reporter for Fox News Channel, one of his beginning reports included coverage of Hurricane Sandy. It was one of his most embarrassing moments, "Embarrassing? Fell into a hole on live TV during Superstorm Sandy coverage (continued with the live shot, by the way). Memorable? Like five minutes later, when the picture of me falling into the hole was on every website (heard from a lot of old friends)."

One report which Doocy provided live on air was the coverage of the shooting of WDBJ-TV reporter Alison Parker and cameraman Adam Ward in August of 2015. In June 2015, he reported searching for the two prisoners who escaped the Clinton Correctional Facility in Dannemora, NY.

Peter Doocy has also hosted a documentary called "The Man Who Killed Osama Bin Laden." It was the first television exclusive interview with Robert O'Neill. Robert O'Neill is the person who claims to have fired the shots that killed the terrorist leader, Osama Bin Laden; this is the highest-ranked documentary on Fox News Channel's history, according to their records. The documentary first aired in November 2014.

Peter Doocy previously reported live on the scene of the Navy Yard, which was the scene of a deadly shooting in Washington, D.C. He also covered the marathon bombing in Boston and the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting located in Newtown, CT.

He has covered other important stories that had colossal importance on a global level. He has also covered the heart transplant surgery of former Vice President Dick Cheney in March 2012, the floods of 2011 in the Midwest, and the presidential elections of 2008 and 2012.

Starting in 2015, Fox has assigned Doocy on occasion as a substitute on his father's show, Fox & Friends.
